Discover Sydney in Summer

Our city in summer...

Whether you are a local or from out of town, January is the best time to be in Sydney. Summer in Sydney means days at the beach, picnics in the park and balmy evenings being thrilled by exciting Festival events.

From our pop up bars to the more formal setting of the Opera House and everywhere in between, Sydney + summer = Sydney Festival.

Make the most of the Festival month with a long weekend at one of our partner hotels. See a few shows (remember we have a discount when you see three or more), and grab a meal at one of our restaurant partners.

There is an array of free Festival events day and night to tickle any fancy.

Come to the Festival in January and celebrate Sydney in summer.

Things to do in Sydney

Sydney is one of the world's great holiday destinations with plenty of things to do and see, day and night. So while you are in town enjoying Sydney Festival, take the time to explore the rest of what the city has to offer.

Whether you're a first-time visitor or you've been here before, you'll discover different ways to explore Sydney's favourite spots. Climb to the summit of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, take a backstage tour of the Sydney Opera House or jump on a ferry to Cockatoo Island. If you're here a few days before the Festival, Sydney's world famous New Year's Eve Fireworks are not to be missed.

Take a stroll around the harbour, have a picnic on a beach or a swim at one of our beautiful sea pools.

Whatever you are doing there is no better time to be in Sydney.
