Alana Valentine has been making work with communities for decades. Her latest work, in consultation with the Wayside Chapel community and Belvoir St Theatre, tells the stories of couples who were married at Kings Cross's unconventional Wayside Chapel, including Valentine’s own mother and stepfather (that's her in the picture above).
Valentine wants to hear from anyone who was married at Wayside Chapel and has a story to share. She’ll be interviewing people and conducting community forums throughout 2020 and building their stories into a new work. The first community forum, in which Alana will discuss the project and listen to people’s stories, will be at Wayside Chapel.
