Pianist Simon Tedeschi teams up with extraordinary flautist Sally Walker for a program of Romantic and refined music – from the era of Sydney Town Hall's construction – by two of the best-loved composers of the time, Johannes Brahms and Gabriel Fauré.
Acclaimed flautist Sally Walker performs on modern flutes and piccolo, as well as historical flutes and recorders. She has appeared in the London Proms as well as Salzburg, Lucerne, Tanglewood and Edinburgh Festivals, and toured and recorded with the Berlin Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestras, Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss, Kölner Kammerorchester, the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and many other Australian and European orchestras.
Alongside her performance and recording career, Walker works as an academic, lecturing in Classical Woodwind at the Australian National University. She regularly performs as Guest Principal with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, is Principal Flautist with the Omega Ensemble and Artistic Director of the Twilight Musical Dialogues Chamber Music Series.
Simon Tedeschi is one of Australia’s most renowned classical pianists and has received prizes including Symphony Australia’s Young Performer of the Year Award, the Legacy Award from the Creativity Foundation (USA), first prize in the Keyboard division of the Royal Overseas League Competition (UK), and a Centenary of Federation Medal.
Tedeschi has performed in major concert halls and for festivals and world leaders throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. He also features in ABC Classic’s TV and radio series How Music Works, as a virtuosic performer and expert on the piano and great pianists.
